Generation: Success

2015, the year of the young. The year that success is finally being measured in achievements, happiness and well-being. Not just income or status. No matter what your background or how you got there, if you’ve achieved something already this year.. good on ya.

 With exam season and dissertation completions in full swing, it got us thinking about the future of young talent and how society is changing how success is measured. Gone are the days you need an extremely wealthy bank account, swanky mansion and a sports car to be deemed a success. People are finally starting to realise that if you’ve achieved a self goal, you’re stable, happy and content then you’re already there. Money and a lavish lifestyle is one thing but it isn’t success if you didn’t earn it.

 Whether you handed in your dissertation 5 minutes ago, 5 years ago or have never written out the word dissertation, let alone complete one it’s not to late to become a success. The chances are, you’re probably a lot closer than you think. We live in an age where you don’t need letters after your name or a degree to be wealthy but that’s not to say completing a degree isn’t an achievement to dismiss. We chose our own roots in life and they’re often not the same as your friends, family or peers but as long as you’re content in your journey to success then it’s a completely justified journey.

 Some of us choose to leave education, travel the world in hope of finding self worth, others chose to do what they love and work at it until they get damn talented and others chose to grasp education for as long as possible, becoming as knowledgeable in their field as possible and each is a path to success, however varied they may seem.

 The point of this post is to emphasise the fact that, if you feel like you’re not on your way to achieving something because you’ve followed a different path from most then don’t worry because each journey is different and it’s what makes us who we are. Secondly, ask yourself.. are you really that far from success if you’re happy, content and heading in a direction (whatever that direction may be?).

BLOGGER LOVE

Having a blog is great for many things: It gives you your own individual slice of the internet to write whatever you like, it allows you to express your opinions on something you feel passionate about and the list goes on. What I love most about blogging is the sense of community that surrounds it. Blogging has blown up within the past 3-4 years with bloggers popping up all around the world talking about just about anything. It creates a community and its nice to share similar interests with other bloggers. I believe this is part of the reason why blogging has become so successful.

With this being said, at Young Britannia we didn't want to launch this blog to just keep our readers updated but we wanted to use it to source inspiration and share love with other young britons who share an interest for fashion and a London lifestyle. 

To do exactly that, we've decided to dedicate a blog post to our favourite bloggers of the moment. Kicking it off is Risa from VDR (Vintage Doll Risa), we're obsessed with her personal style and can't get enough of her recent collaboration with Urban Outfitters. How amazing are those dungarees? The ultimate throwback outfit.

And last but not least, we have Millie from It's a LDN thing. This girl is truly one to watch, if she's not at swish events, she's showing us how to make the perfect green smoothie and of course her style is on point. We never know if her next outfit is going to included a structured two piece or a pair of Nike's (or both).

How we wear it #3

Welcome back and a happy new year to everyone! 

To start the new year, we've got a 'how we wear it' blog post from team YB's very own Jodene.

Jodene describes her style as a mash up of everything. "Some days I'll wear a dress and trainers, then the next I could be in a three piece suite and heels. I like sharp tailoring and stepping outside the box with colours and textures as to not feel I am like anyone else just me"

Currently my favourite thing we stock is my grey lion hat

2) What do you like to wear that item with?

As the seasons changed I started wearing it with black pleated skirt and heels for a casual look, I have worn it with skinny ripped jeans a beanie and some red heels and with leather leggings and the YB black snap back and all black Jordan’s.

Winter style guide #3 - Gifts for him

When it comes to Christmas, finding the perfect present for that special someone isn't always the easiest task.
To help you with this, we've compiled a list of ideas we think will be just right. This week we've got gifts for the guys in your life..

Luckily most men are easy and are more than happy with something entertaining and equally as dangerous. Of course, we don't recommend a death trap so perhaps a skateboard will suit them nicely.
And no Christmas gift is complete without the standard aftershave and socks combo! 

Christmas always gives you the chance to kit them out in the best attire possible, we think a vest and bobble hat is a great start. Vests are perfect for layering and they're wearable all year round!
